How We Hit 16,000 Steps a Day in Palm Springs Without 'Hiking'

Palm Springs residential architecture with desert landscaping

We routinely log 16,000+ steps a day here without ever calling it a hike — it's just how we structure the day.

Our experience

Morning loop: a cooler-temperature walk past mid-century homes, watching the light shift on the mountains and noticing tiny design details — door colors, breezeblocks, landscaping. Midday micro-walks to coffee or lunch, then another neighborhood loop. Evening loop along Arenas and downtown as the bars fill and the air cools, then a slow walk back. Nothing dramatic, but it adds up to a genuinely active day.
