Skip the Celebrity Bus Tour — Here's How We Do Palm Springs Architecture
We did the classic celebrity bus tour once — graveyard stop, date shake detour, glimpses of hedges — and decided we'd never do Palm Springs architecture that way again.
Our experience
The bus tour was lots of hype and minimal actual views (just gates and tall shrubs), with a feeling that the route was built around vendor stops more than storytelling. Now we rent bikes or just walk, pick a couple of mid-century neighborhoods, and spend a slow morning on facades, doors, and landscaping. Bonus tip: weekend open houses are a legitimate free architecture tour — agents here are surprisingly relaxed about looky-loos, and you'll see interiors no bus ever shows you.
