Our experience
Hotel rates drop by half or more, restaurants take reservations again, and the pace slows in a way that suits us. We adjust the day: outside before 9 a.m., inside or in the pool from noon to 5, back out after sunset for a long, breezy evening walk. The desert at 9 p.m. in July is one of our favorite hours of the year.
